Saracens Head Hotel
Tucked right in the heart of Adelaide at 82 Carrington Street, the Saracens Head Hotel is more than just a pub-it’s a local institution where food, drinks, and a good time collide. Whether you're a solo diner looking to unwind or a group of mates hunting for a laid-back venue with live tunes and a killer drinks menu, this place hits all the right notes.
From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels unmistakably welcoming. The front bar area is casual and buzzing, while the outdoor seating gives off relaxed beer garden vibes, perfect for catching some sun with a pint in hand. What sets Saracens Head Hotel apart is how it nails that sweet spot between old-school pub charm and modern gastro flair. It’s not just about pouring cold beer-it’s about creating a space where people can gather, laugh, eat well, and soak up some local culture.
Let’s talk food. Their menu is stacked with crowd-pleasers that hit all the comfort food highs. The Chicken Schnitzel is a favourite-crispy, golden, and generously portioned, it pairs perfectly with their signature Steak Fries and a tangy ranch dipping sauce. If you’re feeling a little adventurous, the Prawn, Pork and Chicken Jumbalaya delivers a flavour punch straight from Louisiana. For burger lovers, the Chicken Skin Burger and Chips is as indulgent as it sounds, with crunch, spice, and juicy meat in every bite.
There’s no shortage of classics either. The Chicken Parmigiana, served pub-style with gooey cheese and a hearty tomato sauce, is exactly what you'd hope for on a night out. Craving something spicy? The Spicy Chicken Burger brings the heat without overpowering the flavour. And for those who like to keep things crispy and casual, the Chicken Tenders and Fries are a go-to snack or meal depending on your hunger level.
Meat lovers will appreciate the Sirloin Steak-tender, well-seasoned, and grilled to your liking. Want to elevate your dinner experience? The Confit Duck offers something richer and more refined, showing that Saracens isn't afraid to flex some culinary creativity when the moment calls for it.
And what's a great meal without a top-tier drink selection? Here, the bar is stacked with options. Think Craft Asahi Super Dry, a rotating selection of local beers, and a curated wine list that covers bold reds and crisp whites. If cocktails are more your speed, their Virgin Mojito is a refreshing, alcohol-free pick-me-up, while the full bar service delivers everything from spirits to mixed drinks. Whether you’re sipping a cold one while watching the footy or ordering a round before quiz night kicks off, there’s always something happening here.
The live music and performance nights turn ordinary evenings into memorable experiences, making this a hotspot for locals and tourists alike. If you're lucky enough to visit on a quiz night, expect friendly competition, lively banter, and some very enthusiastic teams. It’s these little touches-the events, the vibe, the staff that know their regulars by name-that keep people coming back.
Accessibility is also a priority. With a wheelchair-accessible entrance and toilet, Saracens Head Hotel ensures everyone feels welcome. Though there’s no delivery, the takeaway option is handy when you want great pub food at home, and dine-in remains the best way to soak up the full experience. Add in alcohol service at the bar, a well-balanced offering of cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits, and you’ve got a destination that checks all the boxes.
With its versatile menu, buzzing vibe, and strong drinks lineup, Saracens Head Hotel proves that not all pubs are created equal. Whether you’re there for the food, the music, the quiz nights, or just a quiet moment with a pint, there’s always a seat for you at the Saracens.

A regular but popped in on a Wed night and pleased to see such a nice atmosphere early. About people - office workers, paralegals and locals. Staff are so much friendlier here than other nearby pubs. Happy hour -pm is a winner. Meals tasty and reasonably priced. (I accidentally dropped / smashed a glass and staff were wonderful about dealing with that.)Gotta love Sarries!
Perfect pub for all varieties of people. This pub can serve people in suits or a tradie in high vis.Great pub all round. Food was great, staff really nice.Wheelchair accessibility: Very good wheelchair access
The tie up with the hot chicken project is amazing! Went to grab some chicken and a few beers, solid tap selection and the inclusion of zero alcohol beer on tap is nice. Friendly service. As to the chicken, hands down one of the best chicken burgers I’ve ever had (crispy skin one). hHeat level is a bit oversold, had a few ‘evil’ tenders and they were more than manageable.
